Written Japanese is composed of two parts, the kana (hiragana and katakana) and kanji.


The kana are the phonetic part of the Japanese written language. There are two forms of kana, hiragana and katakana


Hiragana is what is used for the majority of native Japanese. In verbs is used in conjunction with kanji.
